The Problem

Frequently called the eighth wonder of the world, the Palm Islands of Dubai are the world’s largest manmade islands. This idyll location however experiences harsh weather conditions that can wreck havoc on wooden floors. Summers can reach up to 50 degrees C, with humidity levels at %100. Winters can see temperatures drop to single digits. Combined with AC systems, even luxury wooden floors take a beating.

It took Rixos Hotel just 4 months to experience problems after installing close to 8000 square metres of new wooden parquet flooring – warping, swelling due to high humidity, chipping and scratching tarnished the -5Star image of the hotel.

The Problem

The H Hotel had solid wooden flooring installed in their grande Ballroom. Shortly after installation of the flooring, high amount of foot traffic resulted in signs of scratching and chipping – cracking the grandeur of this stately room.
